Nepal successfully
participated in United Nations/ Austria Symposium on "Access to
Space: Holistic Capacity-Building for the 21st Century" Graz,
Austria, 3 - 7 September 2017 Organized by The United Nations Office for
Outer Space Affairs, co-organized & co-sponsored
by the Government of Austria European Space Agency (ESA), Deutsches Zentrum für
Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR), Austrospace, Joanneum Research, NPOC Space Law, Graz
University of Technology, City of Graz, State of Styria, the Ministry for
Transport, Innovation and Technology. More than 40 participants, from 30
countries had attended the Symposium highlighted on framework of topic
on Space Science technology and the possible role of United Nations.
Sabin Gautam
from Pokhara Astronomical Society (PAS) presented his paper on
space science capacity buildings activities focus on youth and women in
Nepal .The Symposium primarily focus on how space base technology
can be utilize for holistic capacity building of our society.
All symposium participants had presented their recommendation and to
address the challenge for capability building through space
technology. The Symposium was concluded by addressing the
objective of UNISPACE+50 to strengthen international coordination and
cooperation in the use and applications of space science, technology as well
as policy and law. In particular, the Symposium is expected to contribute
mainly to Thematic Priority 7: Capacity building for the 21st Century.
